Hi Jan, I also live in Logan Utah, I have long known that there was something going on with me. I have had chronic neck, back, and knee pain. Recently I have started to have intense shooting pain in my right big toe when I sleep. I have had blood tests, and xrays of my knees which have shown nothing wrong. My mother has MS and I fear that fibromalgia is the beginning of this terrible disease. I am not sure which doctor I should see in Cache Valley so I can begin the journey of diagnosing me. I know you have seen numerous doctors from your blog, please let me know which way to turn. Thank you so much.

I definitely feel like I’m treated like a drug/attention seeking hypochondriac) is how I feel when my physician deals with me..I tell her I have read up on all information pertaining to this disease. She just will not prescribe narcotics to help with the pain. She say's it's not used for chronic pain. I explain my high tolerance to pain medication and how it help's but she still will not listen to me.I am so fed up with dealing with this god awefull pain..I am so frustrated she get's my High Blood Pressure up whenever I go to my appointments.
Santa Barbara Chiropractor Paul Zemella D.C. Treatment for Fibromyalgia

There is a mass of undependable reporting of the benefits of the use of chiropractors to treat Fibromyalgia and CFS, although few clinical studies support these claims. Since the manipulative methodology of osteopathy and chiropractic have become ever closer, and the methods of osteopathy are now widely used by massage therapists, there are clinical studies involving OMT and massage reporting that it is safe to assume that the claims of chiropractors to treat fibromyalgia are accurate. It is reported that Santa Barbara chiropractors who treat fibromyalgia with a focus on muscles, such as Morter Bio Energetic Synchronization Technique (BEST) are more likely to be helpful in FIBROMYALGIA cases than the more active adjustment methods, although these do have their place when joint restrictions are a feature.

Like other health practitioners, Santa Barbara Chiropractors follow a standard routine to secure the information they need for diagnosis and treatment. They take the patient’s medical history, conduct physical, neurological, and orthopedic examinations, and may order laboratory tests. X-Rays and other diagnostic images are important tools because of the Chiropractor’s emphasis on the spine and its proper function. Santa Barbara Chiropractors also employ a postural and spinal analysis common to Chiropractic diagnosis. In cases in which difficulties can be traced to the involvement of musculoskeletal structures, Chiropractors manually adjust the spinal column. Some Chiropractors use water, light, massage, ultrasound, electric, and heat therapy. They also may apply supports such as straps, tapes, and braces.

Santa Barbara Chiropractors may counsel fibromyalgia patients about wellness concepts such as nutrition, exercise, changes in lifestyle, and stress management, but do not prescribe drugs or perform surgery. Some Chiropractors specialize in sports injuries, Neurology, Orthopedics, Pediatrics, nutrition, internal disorders, or diagnostic imaging.

My fibromyalgia started many years ago and I didn't know it. I always complained "my skin hurts". The only way I could describe it was it felt like I was sunburned and the slightest touch would hurt. At the same time, I had terrible problems staying asleep. I woke up every hour. I even wrote down the times I woke up one night to give to my doctor. They put me on Trazodone and it works pretty good most nights. Then about 5 years I had an adverse side affect to Simvastatin where it caused severe muscle pain. I truly believe that's what started my fibromyalgia. First it was in my neck, right shoulder and armpit area. I put heat on it until I was burned and ice on it until I was frostbitten but nothing worked. My doctor did about every test imaginable including EMG, and MRI. Finally I was referred to a rheumatologist and was "officially" diagnosed. I took Nurontin (3600mg daily) and Effexor XR for about a year and all that did was make me gain 60lbs. Now I'm on Lyrica, vicodin and still on Effexor. At first the Lyrica seemed like it worked but now it just takes the edge off. I just asked my doctor about Topamax which a relative takes for chronic pain and she's looking into it. In the meantime, I just sit on the porch in the middle of the night when nobody's around and cry because I'm so tired of the pain.

They say its a terrble thing to see without a vision and too many so called pain care advocates have a timid vision for people with fibromyalgia. They seem to belive that somehow the medical profession-despite its longstanding prejudices and neglect toward pain will somehow be transformed if more research is done on pain(not better pain research on pain-and without improving the rights of people in pain or holding the health care industry to a higher standard of pain care. This is worse then wishful thinking for it fails to understand what the problems in pain care are all about, Whilst Dr Fauci recently spoke of ending the HIV pandemic- where are our leaders in pain care with regard to making equally inspired statements? Our leaders in pain care are timid their vision is limited and uninspiring-they dont believe there are real problems in pain care for they fail to offer energetic solutions for people in pain. Our leaders have failed us- yet they belive otherwise-they fail to have critical distance from the problems in pain care and they will repeat the mistakes of the past- we need new leaders with energetic vision for people in pain-and we dont have that in pain care today.
